Project Mission
Hong Kong Children has barely the concept of personal finance disregard if they are well off or if underprivileged. With our service mission and our expertise in helping to develop children through storytelling, we introduced the Financial Smarty program with aims to help children in pre-schools and elementary schools to learn the basic money concept and financial management knowledge through the use of stories. We hope to introduce the concept and basic skills of financial management at an early age through fun and interactive means helping young children to better grasp such difficult concept and to prepare them for better understanding in managing their wealth for life time benefit.
Project Overview
Through storytelling and experiential learnings, we helped young children to learn the 3S principles – Savings, Spending and Sharing, where they can, from very young age, to build up good spending habits, to learn disciplinary spending as well to understand sharing with excessively. While we created kids-friendly online tutorial materials and videos for wider outreach, we provided also education talks and tips for parents and teachers so they have also the knowledge to help their children to develop these skills as they grow up.
A storybook, “我變錢幣了” was created and published specially to enhance the financial literacy for young children, and you can find the storybook in the public libraries in Hong Kong.
